Rise Club Facilitator (x1) – Ekurhuleni South Fixed Term Contract – To End August 2027 (Reporting to the Project Supervisor)

A Rise club facilitator supports the club's activities, interacts with young people, and may assist with planning and organizing events. They are expected to be reliable, trustworthy, and able to communicate effectively with youth. They should be able to recruit Rise club participants from targeted communities. A Rise club facilitator provides support and activities for young women in a club setting, fostering their development and well-being. They build relationships, design and run programmes, and ensure a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning & Delivery

  • Designing and organizing activities, workshops, and programmes that cater to the needs and interests of club members.
  • Providing guidance, advice, and mentorship to help club members overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
  • Facilitating club sessions to encourage healthy lifestyles, fostering social skills, and ensuring access to necessary resources and services.
  • Creating a safe and inclusive space where all young people feel valued and respected.
  • Maintaining confidential records for each club.
  • Writing and presenting reports as prescribed.

Advocacy and Referrals

  • Connecting Rise Club members with appropriate resources and services, such as mental health support, bursary opportunities.
  • Keeping detailed records of referral activities, progress, and any relevant incidents.
  • Working with other professionals, such as teachers, social workers, and community organizations, to support young people.

Club Supervision and Training

  • Recruiting and managing club participants.
  • Help plan and prepare Rise club training, club activities, set up materials, and organising club related events.
  • Facilitating club workshops in schools and community settings.
  • Addressing and challenging unacceptable behavior, including bullying and discrimination of any kind.
  • Spend time with young people, offer guidance, and act as a positive role model.

Communication

  • Communicate with young people and staff, provide feedback, and address issues as they arise.

Safeguarding

  • Working with other organisations, such as schools, community groups and the police as referral pathways to ensure club members are safe and that club members are appropriately supervised.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the appropriate person.

Other Related Duties

  • Recruitment of other programme participants (parents, boys and Rise members) into watch parties.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post matric Qualification (diploma or equivalent)

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent ability to connect with young people from all backgrounds.
  • Enthusiasm & Commitment: Strong passion for working with children and young people.
  • Empathy & Sensitivity: Ability to understand and respond to the concerns of young people.
  • Reliability & Patience: Punctual, dependable, and able to maintain patience in challenging situations.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with other volunteers and staff.
