Soul City Institute for Social Justice is seeking visionary leaders, values-driven leaders to strengthen our governance, stewardship and long-term impact. We are particularly interested in individuals who are committed to feminist leadership, collective accountability and systems change, and who bring diverse perspectives, lived experience and professional expertise.
Call for Nominations for New Board Members

As a feminist rights-based organisation with a 30-year legacy of using edutainment, advocacy and social mobilisation committed to advancing social justice, gender equity and community resilience, we invite individuals who share our values and bring diverse expertise to strengthen our governance and impact.

What We're Looking For

We welcome applications and nominations from candidates from the ages 20 and above, including emerging and seasoned leaders, with experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Governance & Financial Stewardship: Experience in organisational oversight, fiduciary responsibility, compliance and long-term sustainability.
  • Strategic Resource Mobilisation: Expertise in fundraising, donor engagement, philanthropy or building diversified and resilient funding models.
  • Advocacy & Feminist Leadership: A strong grounding in feminist analysis, social justice advocacy, movement building and sector leadership.
  • Communications & Campaign Strategy: Experience in strategic communications, brand positioning, public campaigns, digital media and/or narrative change.
  • Community Development & Collaboration: Experience working with communities, civil society organisations, or cross-sector partnerships, with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, care and collective wellbeing.

Board Member Commitment

Board members are expected to:

  • Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual and in-person).
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight aligned with Soul City's mission, values and organisational priorities.
  • Serve on Board sub-committees, where appropriate.
  • Act as ambassadors for Soul City in the feminist and social justice sector, supporting its visibility, credibility and influence in the feminist and social justice sector.
