Key responsibilities
Demand creation
- Support the HAST/MCWH/HP team in educating youth on SRH, HIV prevention, and gender-based violence prevention.
- Mobilise young people for HIV testing, PrEP, and SRH services through calendar-based events.
- Create service demand using events, radio, outreach, and other community platforms.
- Lead health talks and community dialogues at selected facilities.
- Continuously distribute IEC materials to young people.
- Help the district DOE establish Soul Buddyz Clubs.
Co-ordination and monitoring of projects
Soul Buddyz Clubs
- Recruit and register Soul Buddyz Clubs in the target areas.
- Implement Raising Voices coalition advocacy with local and provincial authorities.
- Collect registration and attendance records.
- Provide clubs with necessary tools and ensure they meet weekly.
- Plan club activities with the programme officer on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Conduct face-to-face and remote coaching sessions twice per month.
- Document all coaching interactions and club engagements.
- Identify barriers to participation and find ways to reduce dropout.
- Track club attendance and promote online visibility.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports.
Youth Zones / AYFS
- Support the AYFS Champion with Youth Zone implementation using standard tools.
- Track referrals, screenings, and PrEP services at identified facilities.
- Organise quarterly youth campaigns in alignment with NDoH's calendar.
- Ensure data quality and meet M&E requirements of Soul City and DoH.
- Compile data into structured monthly reports.
- Capture photos/audio for communications and reporting use.
- Report monthly to supervisors.
Stakeholder management
- Identify key stakeholders to strengthen club efforts.
- Engage partners to support and elevate club visibility.
- Coordinate meetings between clubs and local leaders or officials.
General
- Complete reports accurately using required formats.
- Work closely with the programme officer to align efforts.
- Identify creative ways to deliver programme goals.
- Monitor engagement and prevent dropouts among members.
Qualifications and experience
- Matric required; post-matric qualification is a bonus.
- Must understand issues affecting gender, children, and young women.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in community work or activism.
- Advocacy knowledge and a passion for gender equality are essential.
