To assist and or support the program officer to implement the NDOH and SCI programme strategy at district & Provincial level to achieve the set youth programme objectives, which includes coordinating and supporting the implementation monitoring of HAST youth related project plans and Soul Buddyz Clubs in relevant districts.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Creation

  • Support the HAST/MCWH/HP team in educating young people on SRH, HIV prevention, and gender-based violence prevention.
  • Mobilise youth for calendar events, including HIV testing, PrEP uptake, and other SRH services.
  • Create demand for services via community events, radio, and outreach programmes.
  • Conduct health talks and community dialogues in support of youth programmes.
  • Distribute IEC materials to young people regularly.
  • Support district DOE in rolling out Soul Buddyz Clubs.

Co-ordination and Monitoring of Projects

Soul Buddyz Clubs

  • Recruit and register Soul Buddyz Clubs.
  • Implement Raising Voices advocacy with provincial and local government.
  • Collect attendance registers and registration forms.
  • Distribute tools to clubs and monitor weekly meetings and reports.
  • Develop monthly/quarterly club activities with the Programme Officer.
  • Hold face-to-face and remote coaching sessions (twice monthly).
  • Document coaching sessions and all club activities.
  • Identify challenges impacting participation and address dropouts.
  • Track attendance and ensure club visibility on social media.
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress reports.

Youth Zones / AYFS

  • Support AYFS Champion in implementing Youth Zones in health facilities using AYFS tools.
  • Track referrals and PrEP uptake data in health facilities.
  • Help organise quarterly youth campaign events aligned with the NDoH calendar.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and reporting using agreed M&E templates.
  • Capture and share visual/audio content with the communications team.
  • Submit monthly reports to supervisors.

Stakeholder Management

  • Identify key stakeholders to support club objectives.
  • Network with local stakeholders to raise club visibility.
  • Facilitate meetings between clubs and key decision makers.

General

  • Prepare reports in the correct templates as required.
  • Work closely with the Programme Officer to align activities with Soul City’s broader programmes.
  • Explore innovative ways to meet programme goals.
  • Monitor club member participation and manage retention.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric qualification required; post-matric qualification is an advantage.
  • Experience with gender, children, and young women’s issues is essential.
  • At least 2 years' experience in community development or activism.
  • Understanding of advocacy work and commitment to gender equality.
