Job Purpose
To lead and oversee the monitoring and evaluation activities of all Soul City Institute GBVF programme interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the successful implementation and alignment of monitoring and evaluation activities for Soul City Institute GVBF programme interventions and campaigns based on the M and E plan.
- Develop and report on appropriate indicators and track progress against targets.
- Conduct data quality audits internally and with partner organisations where required.
- Disseminate results from evaluation studies where required.
- Conduct training on monitoring and evaluation for Soul City Institute staff and l partners when required.
- Participate in the monitoring and evaluation processes with partners from the NGO, government and academic sectors.
- Keep abreast of national and international monitoring and evaluation techniques and integrate such into the organisation’s monitoring and evaluation systems to enhance the effectiveness thereof.
- Contribute to the donor and board reports.
- Manage field-based data collection activities ensuring timeous, accurate and complete reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual M and E budget.
- Develop the capacity of the Community Based Organisations to ensure that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their functions optimally.
- Prepare reports as and when required.
- Prepare and deliver presentations at relevant forums and meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum requirements
- A post graduate qualification or an equivalent qualification in social sciences, research, public health or epidemiology.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation of health-related projects and programmes.
- At least 3 - 5 years’ experience in monitoring & evaluation
- Experience in data analysis of health-related data using appropriate software such as SPSS or STATA 8;
- Experience at an M&E officer level will be an added advantage.
- Additional requirements (advantageous but not essential)
- Experience in writing and presenting papers at national and global conferences.
- Experience in social and behaviour change communication; and
- Training/teaching experience.

- Sound knowledge of public health.
- Sound project management skills and understanding of project management processes and methodologies.
- Able to analyse and evaluate data and information.

- Advanced proficiency in MS Office - including word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook.

- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Able to use own initiative and take ownership of his/her tasks.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Communication skills in other South African languages would be an added advantage.
- Valid Driver License.
- Own transport.
