Soul City Institute hosts 30 girls from Nomasonto Idah Foundation on take a Girl Child to Workday

Recently, Soul City Institute hosted 30 girls from #NomasontoIdahFoundation an organisation that is working for the rights and empowerment of women across Pimville and surrounding areas in Soweto. Soweto in a take a Girl Child to Workday event.

Take a Girl Child to Workday is annually observed in South Africa on the last Thursday in May. The campaign is organized by Cell C, a telecommunication service provider, and endorsed by the South African Department of Education. Cell C believes that this campaign has a far-reaching impact. Showing girls working places and early encouragement to work will motivate and inspire them to reach their full potential. Each year the company focuses on a specific theme to highlight the present-day problems of society. Partnering with Soul City Institute were:

  1. actress Lusanda Mbane of the Zazi, Zithande, Zithembe, a social movement that advocates for self-awareness, self-love, and self-confidence. “Zazi Zithande Zithembe”, when loosely translated means “Know Yourself. Love Yourself. Trust Yourself. Lusanda motivated the girls and talked to them about the three Zs (Zazi, Zithande, Zithembe) and how doing the 3 will help them reach their goals in life – unlocking whatever dreams they have about their lives:
  2. Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, a not-for-profit social enterprise building African solutions for the global challenge of youth unemployment and the
  3. Daymon Worldwide which has nearly 50 years of experience building successful Private Brand programs around the world.

The day’s program included a motivational talk from the partners and information about the world of work and opportunities that are available. After all was said about ukuZazi, Zithande, and ukuZithemba Lusanda Mbane added that “You are all seeds to be planted, watered and nurtured to grow. So that, you are the roses you are meant to be”.
