Job Purpose
To assist and or support the program officer to implement the NDOH and SCI programme strategy at district & Provincial level to achieve the set youth programme objectives, which includes coordinating and supporting the implementation monitoring of HAST youth related project plans and Soul Buddyz Clubs in relevant districts.
Key Responsibilities
Demand Creation
- Support the (HAST/MCWH/HP team with implementing the project in relation to educating young people, on SRH and HIV prevention, and gender-based violence prevention.
- Support with the mobilization of youth through calendar events for HIV testing and other SRH services provided by the project, including PrEP uptake.
- Support the project to create demand (through different platforms – community events, radio shows, outreach programmes etc.) in different settings, through a range of interventions across different channels.
- Create demand and awareness for project services by conducting health talks and community dialogues in selected facilities in support of HAST/MCWH/HP youth programmes.
- Distribute IEC materials on a continuous base to young people.
- Support district DOE with rolling out of Soul Buddyz Clubs in the district & province.
Co-ordination and monitoring of projects.
(i) Soul Buddyz Clubs
- Implement the recruitment and registration of Soul Buddyz clubs.
- Implement Raising Voices coalition advocacy with provincial and local government.
- Collect attendance registers and registration forms from clubs.
- Distribute relevant tools to clubs.
- Ensure that clubs allocated to them meet weekly and report their attendance appropriately as required by Soul City
- Develop monthly/quarterly club activities in consultation with Program Officer
- Weekly face to face and remote coaching sessions twice a month with Soul Buddyz club members
- Documentation of all coaching session and other club activities
- Identify challenges faced by club that may impact on the participation in the program and identify appropriate interventions to mitigate dropouts. • Track attendance of club activities by members
- Ensure clubs social media action and visibility.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports.
(ii) Youth Zones/AYFS
- In collaboration with the program officer, support the AYFS Champion in the implementation of the Youth Zone program in the identified health facilities, using the AYFS monitoring tool.
- Track information in facilities of those clients referred for comprehensive SRH services, screened, offered, and initiated on PrEP.
- Support the program officers to organize youth campaign events in the district, based on the NDoH calendar by mobilizing youth to access SRH services (1 per quarter).
- Ensure that data collected is captured correctly and it meets the required M&E standards as provided by Soul city and department of Health.
- Collate captured data into a monthly report using agreed M&E templates.
- Capture visual and audio footage of various activities and share with communication department for posting.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to immediate supervisors.
Stakeholder Management
- Identify key stakeholders who can contribute to meeting club’s objectives.
- Network with local stakeholders to support and profile the work of the clubs.
- Facilitate club meetings with key decision makers.
General
- Prepare reports as and when required in the right templates.
- Work closely with the program officer to ensure club activities are seamlessly integrated into Soul City programmes.
- Identify innovative ways and opportunities to meet the objectives of the programme.
- Monitor and keep track of club members participation and mitigate against drop out.
Qualifications And Experience
- A matric qualification. Post matric qualification advantageous.
- Experience and understanding of gender, children and young women sector issues is essential.
- At least 2 years’ experience in community development/activism.
- An understanding of advocacy work
- Commitment to activism for gender equality
