Rise Young women helping High school learners

Mosekari Secondary School and Utlwanang Ladies Young Women’s Club in Makouspan, have developed a relationship that will give support to young people in grades 8 and 9.

The partnership was established on the basis of creating a support group for you people in the community. The club hosted their first talk at the school on 12 August 2015 and was on Peer Pressure. Utlwanang Ladies and Mosekari Secondary School have taken the approach of addressing these issues with the younger grades because these are their foundation years in High School and also filled with excitement of social status among peers.

In the last session, young people get a chance to share their stories on Substance Abuse and give advice to those that may fall victim to addiction, only because they want to fit. Utlwanang Ladies have used this as an informal way to get young people to start thinking differently about their lives and their future.

The sessions will be held on Wednesdays during the sports period and Fridays during the last period of the day; the next topic will be on Abuse: Sexual, Physical, Emotional and Verbal; where they will address the causes, effects and ways of dealing with it, the Life Orientation teacher will be there to assist.
