Of course, his role as Jack Mabso in Generations cemented his status as an icon amongst South African tv audiences.

Fana Mokoena as Philani Maponya

With roles in Blood Diamond and Golden Globe-nominated Hotel Rwanda also under his belt, Fana brings his wealth of experience in both film and television to Soul City. This established actor has also appeared in the films Dangerous Grounds – Jump the Gun, The Spear and Inside.

Harriet Manamela as Thandeka Maponya

Harriet is an accomplished theatre actor, having toured Sweden to perform in Gomorrah as well as acting in various productions through both community and theatre groups: The Virus, Lets Talk About Aids, Broken Dreams, Theatre Sports for SABC3, Koze Kuse Bash, Ways of Dying and Bozoli.

Nolwazi Shange as Dimpho Miya

Nolwazi Shange, a relatively new face in the entertainment industry, hails from Durban. She has appeared in well known programmes such as Mtunzini.com and portrayed Precious in A Place Called Home on SABC 1, a role for which she recently earned a nomination in the 2010 SAFTA Award for best supporting actress in a Drama. Nolwazi can also been seen in SABC2’s Heartlines, Heart laughs.

Neo Ntlatleng as Menzi Maponya

Neo’s lead roles in the films Violence and Odyssey add to this young actor’s impressive tv portrayal of Oratile in 90 Plein Street I, II & III. He also appeared in Zone 13, Justice for All, Generations and The Mines.

Thomas Gumede as Lucky Gumede

Thomas Gumede is a professional actor and MC, and has received a SAFTA award for Best Actor, making him the youngest winner to date. On the film front, Thomas has played lead roles in The Deal, The List, Brothers in Arms, Friends in Need and Zero One One. On the small screen, Thomas has played lead characters in the drama series A Place called Home and Bay of Plenty.

Senamile Sishi as Thoko Gumede

Senamile was the face of Colgate and Johannesburg Water in its 2008 billboard campaigns. She also won the Figures Model of the Year award in 2008.

Warona Seane as Nomsa Gumede

Warona’s tv roles have included leads in Home Affairs and 90 Plein Street as well as appearances in Wild At Heart III, Life is Wild, Justice for All, SOS, Madam & Eve, Scoop and Issues of Faith. She was also featured in Scoombie and Big Okes.

Jafta Mamobolo as Kagiso Vomo

Jafta’s work as a presenter on The Molo Show, YO TV Hot Kids, Craze E, Knock Knock and Xiluva gave us a taste of the talent of this young actor. But it was his portrayal of Kunene, a lead role in the acclaimed Jerusalema that showed us what he was capable of.

Simphiwe Msimanga (AKA Bravo) as Sixteen

Bravo is an accomplished recording artist, having released his debut album Skhokho in 2002 after winning the Schweppes Sparkling Granadilla Kwaito Fabulous, a national talent competition.
