Soul City Feminist Parliament

Soul City Feminist Parliament

The Soul City Institute for Social Justice has established a Feminist Parliament; a space for young people to engage with concepts, issues and policies that relate to them, as well as exchange their views and experiences and making recommendations.
Soul City Feminist Parliament

This groundbreaking, model parliament opened on 28 May, 2023 through our participation in the annual Take A Girl Child to Work Day campaign. The office of our CEO hosted 9 girls from Bophelong, Katlehong and Soweto, who presented their findings on the importance of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in schools.

The event’s impact resulted in a fruitful partnership with UNAIDS for the second gathering of the feminist parliament. The 2-day programme included a workshop where young people unpacked the learner pregnancy policy and prepared to present their findings and recommendations during a model parliament session.

We look forward to reaching more young leaders through the campaign and provide a platform for them to address their various issues.
