Season 1

Rise Talk Show was hosted by two young hosts joined by two mature and out-spoken personalities who are well-versed on topics relating to HIV/AIDS activism, Feminism, sexual health and sexuality.

Lebogang Ramafoko is a walking encyclopaedia on social and behaviour change with over 20 years’ experience in the development and NPO fields. The Harvard University graduate and Soul City CEO has served in different capacities on projects, managing to always find innovative solutions to influencing communities to change toxic social behaviours and challenge perceptions.

Lebo’s work experience combined with her candidness and ability to empathise with people from all backgrounds will add great value to the host line-up.

The second host is Kgomotso Matsunyane, a dynamic breed of new player in the South African media landscape. Kgomotso is a seasoned film and TV producer, director, presenter, and business woman. Until January 2012, she was a partner at T.O.M., a production company that has won several local awards and was in 2007 nominated for an International Emmy Award.

She has written popular columns for News24.com, Afropolitan and True Love magazines.  Her talk show Late night with Kgomotso became a favourite on SABC 2 on Saturday nights and she successfully hosted Good Morning Gauteng, the flagship breakfast show on Kaya FM, where she boosted ratings from 180 000 to 220 000. She subsequently hosted The Weekend Breakfast with Kgomotso Matsunyane on Talk Radio 702/Cape Talk 567.

She is now the Managing Director of One Man and His Dog Films, a feminist film and TV production company specialising in women's sexual health and political issues.

Khanyisile Mazibuko is the third host and her passion for the performing arts saw her enrol at the National School of Arts in 2009, where she was afforded several acting opportunities in productions such as Animal Farm and Bad Education. It was at the same institution where she wrote and directed her first play Destination: Freedom.

Accolades for her role in the above productions and a few others gained her the confidence to successfully apply to the New York Film Academy. Unfortunately, financial constraints forced her to pursue her latest love for film and TV at home. Khanyisile is an actress and facilitator at Themba Interactive: Initiatives for life. Khanyisile forms part of a community theatre project run by the NGO, which aims to uplift and educate underprivileged communities and schools about HIV/AIDS and other related issues.

Nyiko Shikwambane describes herself as a Cultural Diplomat and a Fallist who is passionate about leadership, radical black feminism, power politics, art, culture and the social justice project anxiously waiting on the horizon. After completing her law degree at Wits University, Nyiko decided to answer her calling to disseminate essential information to the readership of a transforming South Africa.

Lebo co-directed Fire Burn, a play that showcased at three different festivals. Her dream is to make a significant social difference in every project she is involved in.
