Key responsibilities
Demand creation
- Support the HAST/MCWH/HP team in educating young people on SRH, HIV prevention, and gender-based violence prevention.
- Mobilise youth for calendar events including HIV testing, PrEP uptake, and other SRH services.
- Create demand through platforms like community events, radio, and outreach programmes.
- Conduct health talks and community dialogues in selected facilities.
- Distribute IEC materials on an ongoing basis to young people.
- Assist the district DOE in rolling out Soul Buddyz Clubs.
Co-ordination and monitoring of projects
Soul Buddyz Clubs
- Recruit and register Soul Buddyz Clubs.
- Implement advocacy initiatives with provincial and local government through Raising Voices coalition.
- Collect registration forms and attendance records.
- Distribute necessary tools to clubs and monitor their use.
- Ensure regular weekly meetings and proper reporting from clubs.
- Collaborate with the programme officer to plan club activities monthly/quarterly.
- Hold face-to-face and remote coaching sessions twice per month.
- Document all coaching and club activities.
- Identify and address participation challenges to prevent dropouts.
- Track member attendance and increase club visibility on social media.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports.
Youth Zones / AYFS
- Support the AYFS Champion in rolling out the Youth Zone programme using AYFS monitoring tools.
- Track referrals, screening, and PrEP initiation at health facilities.
- Assist with organising quarterly youth campaigns aligned with the NDoH calendar.
- Ensure accurate data collection and compliance with M&E standards from Soul City and DoH.
- Compile and submit monthly reports using agreed templates.
- Capture visual/audio content and share with the communications team.
- Submit reports to immediate supervisors.
Stakeholder management
- Identify stakeholders that support club goals.
- Build networks to support and promote club initiatives.
- Facilitate engagements between clubs and local decision-makers.
General
- Prepare reports using the correct templates as needed.
- Coordinate closely with the programme officer to align efforts.
- Look for new and creative ways to meet programme objectives.
- Track participation and work to minimise dropouts.
Qualifications and experience
- Matric is required; post-matric qualification is an advantage.
- Experience and understanding of gender, children, and young women’s issues is essential.
- Minimum 2 years of community development or activism experience.
- Understanding of advocacy work and a commitment to gender equality.
