Invited participants in this interactive and innovative session include prominent political party leaders, diplomats and other important figures in this critical debate. The panel will debate their parties and organisations offerings on creating a feminist government. First time women voters in the audience will have an opportunity to question the panel members.

Our over-riding objective Is to ensure that all citizens, key decision makers, and the media are better Informed on issues pertaining to youth and adolescent health, especially gender based violence.

As South Africa’s first unapologetic feminist content hub, NYU will create a platform for engagement with -- and between -- womxn to challenge patriarchy and to build a feminist consciousness across the African continent using podcasts, video, creative writing and photography.

This platform is particularly necessary as South Africa has one of the highest rates of femicide and domestic abuse in the world.

We envisage that NYU will become a definitive voice for the womxn’s liberation movement in SA. Using multimedia platforms as a powerful advocacy tool, we will generate content -- and encourage a Big Conversation -- to shift social norms towards real gender equality and contribute to the building of SA's feminist movement. We plan to do this by disrupting mainstream media and amplifying the voices that have been silenced in the politics of our generation.

The launch will take place as follows

  • Date: 13th of November 2018
  • Time: 10h00
  • Venue: Constitutional Hill, Johannesburg
    GPS: -26.190217, 28.041916
