Rise Young Women’s Clubs 16 Days of Activism Campaign: Kwakwatsi - Koppies (Free State)

The 16 Days of Activism Campaign arranged by the two Rise Clubs, Dreamers and Fantastic in collaboration with the local Community Police Forum took place on 25 November 2015 at the local community hall in Kwakwatsi - Koppies.

The participants received information regarding:

  • The different forms of abuse
  • The cycle of abuse
  • Where to seek help and the importance of counselling
  • How to apply for a protection order
  • For community members to stop abusing their gay and lesbian children and rather accept and love them.
  • The community was encouraged to support Victims of abuse and violence where ever they can – not to continue having a blind eye – To start saying Its #Not Okay if you see something that’s Not Okay.

It was well represented by the following guest speakers:

  • Sgt Majoe and Captain Mofokeng from SAPS
  • Naomi Tloome – a forensic nurse
  • Department of Social Development
