Gauteng team with SAUMA HD RADIO hosts 16 days of activism event

The Gauteng team in Ekurhuleni East in partnership with SAUMA radio held a 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence on the 03 Dec in Etwatwa.

The theme of the event encompassed the SCIs theme of Kgalemelang  from awareness to accountability which aims to shift the need from just being aware of GBV and making strides towards accountability in various spheres of life including our personal lives, the justice system, our relationships, in the civil society sector and as society as a whole. The event was honoured by other partners inclusive of Methodist HIV Testing, Higher Health, Shout it Now and Love life. All partners gave messages of support and exclaimed how and where to get help in case of encountering any form of abuse or violence and messages around toxic masculinity were also communicated by SCIs PO and Social Mobilisers.

The community was also reminded about the HIV pandemic since 1 December  we commemorate World AIDS day. Dual contraceptives (Male and female condoms including lubricants were distributed) to passers-by , taxi drivers, bus drivers and to those who came to the SCIs tents/Gazebos. A total of 7200 (6000 Male condoms and 1200 female) condoms were distributed.
