The young change-makers developed a series of informative and creative posters that highlighted the importance of protecting children from all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence. Through their artwork and messages, the learners demonstrated a strong understanding of child protection and the role that communities play in keeping children safe.
The posters explained what child protection means and why every child deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. They also provided important information about where children can seek help if they experience abuse or witness another child being harmed.
A key message from the project was that children should never suffer in silence. The Soul Buddyz Club members encouraged learners to speak to a trusted adult, teacher, caregiver, social worker, or child protection organisation if they need support. They also shared information about child protection helplines and reporting mechanisms available to children in South Africa.
By leading this awareness campaign, the Soul Buddyz Club members showed that children can play an active role in creating safer schools and communities. Their posters sparked important conversations among learners and reminded everyone that protecting children is a shared responsibility.
The initiative reflects the core values of Soul Buddyz Clubs, which empower children with knowledge, life skills, and confidence to become advocates for positive change. Through activities like these, young people are learning that their voices matter and that they have the power to make a difference in the lives of others.
As South Africa observes Child Protection Awareness Month, the efforts of the Soul Buddyz Club at Dan Radebe Primary School serve as an inspiring example of children standing up for children's rights and helping to build a safer future for all.
Remember: If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, speak to a trusted adult or contact a child protection service for help. No child should face abuse alone.
