Soul Buddyz Series 4

Soul Buddyz, a television programme that you really want your children to watch together with YOU is back again!

Soul Buddyz is a real-life television drama specifically developed for 8 to 12-year olds, with consistently the highest audience ratings in its category. The fourth series follows a tremendous success of the previous three series, which has resulted in it been moved from the 18h30 prime time slot to an even better, later prime time slot of 19h00.

The series has been adjusted to appeal not only to children, but also to adults in these children’s lives. With strong real-life stories that affect children, their parents and their teachers, it delivers the positive message that all irrespective of age should – and can talk about issues.

The series also challenges the stereotype that children are not capable of making informed choices and reinforces the message that kids can be active citizens in society. After the success of the three previous Soul Buddyz series, children said that they wanted to imitate their heroes in the programme. Due to this demand Soul Buddyz Clubs were set up across the country.

The Soul Buddyz Clubs have attracted 60,000 children in 3000 clubs countrywide who are beavering away as agents for social change in their communities and in their own lives.

Running parallel to the Soul Buddyz series, there will be a third series of a television magazine programme called Buddyz on the Move.

In Buddyz on the Move (BoM), the Soul Buddyz Club children make a difference in their communities by dealing with issues which are dealt with on the drama series, i.e. HIV/AIDS prevention, road safety and trauma. BoM is a fun and insightful magazine-type programme run by children. BoM will be broadcast from October 4, 2007, on SABC 1 at a new time slot on Thursdays at 15h45, following the Monday drama broadcast.
