Ntshavheni Wa Luruili – Director

Mr. Wa Luruli studied filmmaking at Columbia University, New York, U.S.A where he obtained Masters degree in Fine Arts. Thereafter he worked on several Hollywood feature films with directors such as Milos Forman, Robert Benton and Spike Lee., and actors such as Paul Newman, Denzel Wanshington, Wesley Snipes, Anthony Quinn, Halle Berry, Jessica Tandy, Bruce Willis, etc.

His feature film “Chikin Bizniz” won several international awards including Best Film in Montreal. Best actor – Fespaco, etc. His latest film “The Wooden Camera”, has won five international awards including, Crystal Bear Award in Berlin Film Festival 2004, Grand Prix Award, Sweden. His filmography includes screenwriting and directing television, music videos, and commercials.

Uwe Beckmann – Producer

Uwe have many years of experience in features, documentaries, game shows and television. He started his career in 1968 as a stills' assistant at Kavalier films. He started producing documentaries in 1980 for the Department of Audiovisual Education and then 1981 started directing, director of photography on dramas and documentaries.

He has received awards e.g. “Star Tonight” award for Best Director “Phindi” in 1983, Rapport Oscar for Best Cameraman in 1978 for “Weeskant die Nag” to name a few. His work can also be seen on game shows as a producer “Skattejag, Treasure Hunt, Zingela Esitolo, Sporting Chance, Big Bucks Bonanza and others. Uwe has worked on Generations, 37 Honey Street, Muhvango, 102 Paradise Complex and currently working on Soul City as a producer. He is the President of South African Society of Cinematographers, committee member on the ‘Audio Visual’ Standards Generating Body’ for SAQUA, committee member on the Film and TV Chamber to the MAPPP Seta, and Board member on the MAPPP Seta.

Greg Latter - Head Writer

Greg is a veteran South African film-maker who has plied his trade both locally and overseas. As a writer he has had over sixteen feature films and hundreds of hours of television produced. He is also a well-known actor with over twenty feature film credits to his name, including playing the lead role in “The Stick”.

His most recent feature films include Forgiveness, which garnered several local awards including Best Film at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. He also cowrote Wooden Camera, Max and Mona and Mr Bones all of which achieved high accolades.

Greg’s television focus has been Soul City, where he has been head writer for the past seven years.
