Bobby Heaney – Director

Bobby Heaney is one of South Africa's top directors. Equally at home directing film, stage or television, single or multi-camera, he has directed in excess of 50 stage productions, 23 television series and several one-off television dramas, amounting to over 500 episodes. He has recorded several shows "live" and has directed live broadcast. . He has also produced numerous commercials for corporates and has also directed several corporate videos, in-house communication videos, and magazine inserts.

Bobby trained as an actor at the University of Cape Town and was a full-time professional actor for several years before gravitating towards producing and directing - so drama is his first love.

He is an expert at comedy, and has piloted M-Net's comedy programmes and comedy development programmes over the last five years. He has won several awards for directing television including an AVANTI award in 1996 for SOUL CITY 2, S.A.B.C. Best Television Programme Award in 1997 for SOUL CITY 3, an AVANTI GOLD award for SOUL CITY 3, and an AVANTI GOLD for Best Multi-camera Series for THEATRESPORTS in 1997 etc.

Muntu Zwane – Director

Muntu Zwane started as an actor in 1986 in a Scy Production called Zikhethele. He acted in several other projects before going behind the camera as an Assistant Director in Soul City 2 in 1996. He has worked for various Production Companies and has directed well known educational TV productions such as School TV and Soul Buddyz. He has also worked on popular shows such as Dube on 2, Thetha Msawawa etc.

Bruce Townsend- Producer

Bruce Townsend is currently a line producer for Bobby Heaney Productions. His career in TV production hit off in 1993 freelancing for various production companies and was only hired fulltime as a production manager by Liberation production house. He has previously worked for DO Productions and Endemol SA amongst other production houses. He has been involved in producing a number of features/series including Soul Buddyz, Laugh out loud, Big Brother SA and more. He has also been involved in the production of various TV commercials.

Nomsa Dladla (Soul Buddyz - Project Manager)

Currently in her final year of a BA in Communications, Nomsa Dladla has already accumulated seven years of experience in media and communications. Starting out as a volunteer for a community radio station, she became a producer and programmes manager. At Vukela productions she worked as a researcher, scriptwriter, voice over artist and radio and television producer. She was then selected for training by the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism as a freelance trainer for their Community Radio Training Project.

Some of Nomsa’s productions include talk shows for the Independent Electoral Commission Voter Awareness as well as a number of radio training programmes such as Creative Writing for Radio. In addition to project managing for Soul Buddyz 2 and 3 her experience in producing for television includes We Care – an Aids awareness programme for SABC School TV and At the End of the Tar Road, a corporate documentary. Her own writing, a story entitled His Mother’s Son was published in Drum Magazine.
