Kgomotso Matsunyane (Producer)
Kgomotso Matsunyane graduated with a major in International Relations from Carleton College in Minnesota, U.S.A. On her return to South Africa Matsunyane worked extensively as a documentary director and producer, making her mark with pieces such as The moon in my Pocket, Sins of the Father, and Heavy Traffic. From 2001 – 2003 Matsunyane was employed as a drama commissioning editor for SABC 1 during which time she oversaw the production of over 500 hours of local drama for the channel. After a stint as editor of O magazine she is back at T.O.M pictures where she produced the multi-award winning children’s educational series Soul Buddyz.
Akin Omotoso (Director)
Akin Omotoso is one of a new breed of young talented black actors and directors making inroads in a small, selective film industry. In 2007 he won the Standard Bank Artist of the Year Award. At 33 years of age he directed and produced his debut feature film God is African. In 2003 he partnered Robbie Thorpe and Kgomotso Matsunyane to start T.O.M pictures and has since produced and directed in film and television such as Nomzamo, A Place Called Home, Gathering the Scattered Cousins (documentary selected for Toronto Film Festival), and Rifle Road (short film selected for Cannes Film Festival). Akin’s latest film, Man on Ground, recently opened at the Toronto Film Festival.
Vincent Moloi (Director)
Vincent Moloi began his film career in television (TV) documentaries where he was mentored by Hotel Rwanda’s Director Terry George for fiction. Since then he has directed ten different TV drama series A Place Called Home and Hidden Life and short films such as Secrets and Lies. He completed his Media Studies Certificate from Boston Media House and continues to direct a variety of fiction and non-fiction television work. Moloi has come a long way from his days of community TV initiatives to be one of South Africa’s trailblazers and a new breed of TV director.
