Buddyz on the Move - TV Story

‘Buddyz on the Move’ is a 13 part magazine series aimed at children between the ages of 8-12 yrs old. It is a companion series to the hugely successful Soul Buddyz drama series which is about to go into its third season on SABC 1 in July.

Almost 2000 Soul Buddyz clubs have sprung up across South Africa since SABC aired the first Soul Buddyz Drama Series many of which are having an incredible impact in their communities. These clubs ranging from 15 to 60 members, are made up of boys and girls aged 8-13yrs, give or take a year. bom_logo_small.gif
Each week, Buddyz on the Move visits a new Buddyz club where they learn about the area they are situated in and the issues they are facing. The program, is driven by the club members themselves, assisted by the club facilitators. Each club has chosen to look at 1 of 5 themes in the first Series; these themes correspond to themes in the weekly episodes of the Soul Buddyz drama. The 5 themes are: HIV/AIDS, Disability, Nutrition, Masculinity and Money Matters.

As a club the Buddyz set out to discover what is happening with their own parents and peers; they talk to and interview various members of their community, they find out how they can help a community member(s), educate their peers or change a situation in their own small way. This in itself takes the Buddyz on their own journey of discovery.

The episodes are 24mins each and will begin airing on SABC 1 on Sat 9th July 2005 at 07h30.
